If I am a provider, how do I handle challenges with working with
a CEDARR?
If you have a family that is working with our Empowered Families
CEDARR Center, we ask that you speak with the clinician on the case
to resolve any problems. If you are not able to resolve the problem
that way, please contact our office and ask for the grievance procedure.
We are committed to our work in ensuring that our families get the
best-coordinated services possible.
Are there other CEDARR programs in Rhode Island?
Yes. The names, addresses, and telephone numbers of all the CEDARR
Centers are listed at www.dhs.state.ri.us.
What is the difference between the CEDARR Centers?
All CEDARR Centers are developed under the Department of Human Service’s
(DHS) standards. The differences you will find from center to center
are with the designated contracted specialty providers. For more
information on the provision of services at different CEDARRs, you
may contact them using the numbers listed on the DHS website: www.dhs.state.ri.us.
If I am unhappy with the services I am receiving from one CEDARR
Center, can I switch to another CEDARR?
Yes, as it is our goal to provide families with the best coordinated
services possible, you can choose to work with any CEDARR center
you wish. If you do choose to leave a CEDARR center for another,
we ask that you consider using the appropriate grievance procedures
to allow for the center to address any problems prior to leaving.
Will I be placed on a wait list?
Our CEDARR Center is not able to have a waitlist per DHS regulations
and is required to offer an appointment within 14 days of your call.
However, the services we may suggest as part of the Family Care
Plan may have a waitlist, which would apply to all referring service
entities. It is our goal to provide services in the most expedited
manner.
What are Enhanced Services?
Two Enhanced Services of specific interest to parents are Therapeutic
Intervention Consultation and Health Promotion Maintenance Group
Interventions.
What is Therapeutic Intervention Consultation?
This service would be provided by a clinician to teach parents new
ways of managing their child’s situation.
Empowered Families CEDARR Center has a Behavior Analyst on staff
to provide evaluation and pre-treatment services to parents with
children who have behavioral problems such as Autism Spectrum Disorder,
or other severe behavioral problems. Parents currently working with
other CEDARR Centers can have their child referred to our CEDARR
center for this specific Enhanced Service.
What is a Health Promotion Maintenance Group Intervention?
This service is provided in a group setting and can focus on specific
disabilities or assist parents in learning, understanding and managing
their special needs child. The groups can meet once or over several
weeks. We currently have a number of groups available for parents
and caregivers. Other new and exciting groups are in development.
Please speak with your CEDARR clinician to learn more about these
groups and which one would benefit you.
If I am with one CEDARR center, may I attend another CEDARR Center’s
groups? Yes, talk with your CEDARR clinician regarding
available groups. Space is often limited, so if you are interested
in attending other groups, please inform the clinician of your interest.
